If there’s one person that pops into my brain when I think of pop culture in the year 2022—it is, without a doubt, Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman. Or just Zendaya for short. She has become a cultural sensation, from her legendary roles as Rue on Euphoria and MJ in Marvel’s Spider-Man, to winning a Primetime Emmy, making it to the TIME100 list, and generally speaking, being a fashion icon. Zendaya is the ultimate dream girl, plain and simple—supermodels everywhere are grateful she chose acting as her main gig. She is raw, authentic, thoughtful and attentive in her craft, and overall, seemingly leads with empathy in her communications with massive audiences. I really do hope that role models like herself positively influence future generations because I think we can all feel pretty good about that.
If you’re looking for any more proof that time is fake, I have some news for you: Zendaya is turning 26 years young on September 1st. This powerful creative force and all of her many accolades have lived the same measly 9496 days as I have and I’m sticking to my guns on the notion that time is illusionary rather than internalizing the shame in this comparison. Now, the moment I saw Zendaya in this video in 2019, I remember thinking “that is a Virgo if I’ve ever seen one”, and only a minute in, like kismet, this thought of mine was confirmed and she even admitted to being a bit of a control freak, in traditional Virgo nature. She is grounded and soft, with a cool-girl exterior, making for such an enchanting package of a person, and for all these reasons and many more, I was inspired to take a look into her natal chart in honor of her birthday and Virgo SZN.
Disclaimer: Human personality is an intricate layering of experiences and reactions and is constantly evolving. To rapidly summarize it is illusionary, especially when referring to a public figure that you don’t know intimately—no matter how many fan-made compilations best-moments-of YouTube videos you watch. An astrological birth chart is a neutral representation of yourself, similar to a mirror or your reflection in still water. Only the person staring back at you can truly attach judgment to it. But, we can have some fun.
Aquarius Rising
Aquarius. The aliens. Or the lizard people, as Twitter users commonly refer to them. They are sometimes mistaken for water signs because of the misleading “aqua” in their name, however, they are the third air sign following Gemini and Libra and are the water bearers. This embodies the idea of community that they champion—providing and sharing, rather than being. It’s no surprise to me that Zendaya, with the sign of social activism in the placement that rules your life’s motivation and public personas, has made her intentions behind acting as Rue in Euphoria clear—to enlighten people on why it is important for addicts to receive societal acceptance. BTW if Euphoria were a zodiac sign, it would also absolutely be Aquarius. The ruler of Aquarius, Uranus—commonly referred to as the “Awakener”, planet of disruption, surprises, and innovation—also happens to be in Aquarius in Zendaya’s chart. This means that these features highlighted in her rising are strengthened; she rules collectives and massive online followings alike and is a standout star. We see her Aquarius rising working in tandem with her Virgo Sun as Zendaya also manifests the “chill, cool girl” vibe, being effortlessly individualistic and eccentric. Exemplified in her flawless fashion sense, which is never boring and always breathtaking (we will get to this next).
Sun in Virgo in the 7th House
With several best friends, a partner, and a sister all with this placement, I am more than qualified to speak on a Virgo Sun. Having the Sun in the 7th House in Virgo makes for a soft and nurturing lot. They are keen on looking after other people’s well-being. Even if sometimes it’s unwarranted. Especially when it comes to how good you look leaving the house. In my experience, they are the unmatched fashionistas of the zodiac. They channel their affinity for perfectionism and naturally good taste into their sense of style. Hiiiii, CFDA Fashion Icon Award winner Zendaya. Virgo Suns, by and large, are intellectual, clear-sighted, modest, and competent. They don’t know rest until a job is well done, being crusaders of analysis, judgment, and critique. With these things considered, in addition to the planet of communication, Mercury, ruling Virgo, there is an obvious and natural link to the nature of Zendaya’s career. We see the overall, aforementioned need for control: being selective of which jobs and opportunities are worthy of time and effort, collaborating in the writer’s room, producing, and ultimately, sharing and communicating meaningful stories that have a lot of impact. And I don’t just mean Euphoria! You don’t have to be in Zendaya’s inner circle to see her hardworking, precise, and tactful character.
Moon in Taurus in the 3rd House
Zendaya’s groundedness in her astrological chart can be greatly credited to her Taurus Moon placement, residing in the zodiac wheel’s 3rd House of communication. And you can quite literally grasp the qualities of this placement in the way she speaks and her tone of voice—calm, comforting, and communicating with a sense of deeper conviction. She is not fluffy with her words, but soothing and firm. Moon in Taurus placements have extra strength in building bonds, and nurturing, requiring both give and need to receive reliable, stable comforts. The Moon is on incredibly stable grounds here and can be a marker of a person who has an incredible ability to manifest their talents and perform their duties exemplary.
Mercury in Libra in the 8th House
Full disclosure, I’m about to reference Euphoria again. The sign Libra holds Mercury, the planet of communication, intellect, and socializing, in the 8th House, in Zendaya’s chart. I found this placement to be particularly interesting and I’ll tell you why. The 8th House is all about taboo, whether it’s sex, death, or rock’n’roll—it is rebellion. Libra in the 8th House is creative and observant, with these qualities amplified in collaboration, sharing stories, and messages. The Libra energy brings intuition and appreciates people who they can read as well as be read by. I found this fascinating because these are the synchronicities that, to me, linked Zendaya to both Rue and Marie in Malcolm & Marie. This connection in itself is further proof of this placement’s ability to bring harmony to everything around them.
Venus in Cancer in the 6th House
The Sun-Venus duet taking place in Zendaya’s chart calls attention to behaviors that both blend and are at odds with each other. Virgo and Cancer both tend to be selective and private with a desire to protect their creature comforts. Venus in Cancer may highlight a more emotional nature that is a bit combative with Virgo logic but can encourage someone to be more vulnerable and tender. Security and sustainability tend to be important values to this Sun-Venus combo when it comes to their relationships. The Spider-Man duo must have it all sorted out because Tomdaya is still going strong, to my knowledge!
Mars in Cancer in the 6th House
The Mars placement in someone’s astrological chart maps out how someone may take action and how they do it. Ultimately, anyone with a Mars in the 6th House is bound to be a hard worker. Since Zendaya’s Mars is in Cancer, it could mean that she feels most productive and helpful while being dedicated to acting as a service to others. Mars in the 6th house are hard workers of the zodiac, not being afraid to get their hands dirty or lose some sleep. Varying aspects of this placement, such as which sign it is in, may determine the style of work they’re choosing, but they are guaranteed to deliver. If all that Zendaya has accomplished in the last few years alone isn’t living proof, I don’t know what is.
