Growing up in the digital age of the internet had one golden rule: clear your search history. Whether you were looking at some not-so-PG content, googling symptoms of a health concern, or creeping your ex, the bottom line was to delete and leave no trace for anyone else to find. We’re a bit older and wiser now and our Google search history is far more interesting—so we’ve decided to share ours every week. Below, find answers to questions about music, pop culture, entertainment, and news.
Fashion icon and streetwear figure Tremaine Emory—founder of Denim Tears and co-founder of No Vacancy Inn—has been named the new Creative Director of Supreme. He has already begun his position and is working closely alongside the label’s founder James Jebbia. If you’re a fan of the Denim Tears brand, not to worry! Emory will keep designing for the brand as he serves his newest position at Supreme. Congratulations poured in, in the form of heart and fire emojis and well wishes from Kevin Abstract and Kim Jones, to the artist formerly known as Kanye West. The major development comes after Supreme, notably, was acquired by VF Corporation in 2020, a deal that was worth $2.1 billion USD. Tremaine Emory is said to be tasked with bolstering Supreme’s origins and continuing to push and progress the imprint.
Who Is The ‘Tinder Swindler’?
We’ve all got our Tinder horror stories, but not all are worthy of their own Netflix documentary. The Tinder Swindler premiered on the streaming platform February 2nd, and shit is being talked worldwide about the scammy dating app user Simon Leviev. He allegedly convinced several women that he was the perfect bachelor before scamming them out of an estimated $10 million total. Move over, West Elm Caleb, the internet has a new dating nightmare to fixate on. He pursued his victims on Tinder under his alias Simon Leviev, masquerading as the prodigal son of Lev Leviev, an Israeli diamond mogul, taking them out on lavish dates, full of private jet trips and expensive dinners. After some time, he would trick them into thinking he was in financial trouble with shady adversaries. And their checkbooks? His savior, of course! Totally legit and normal! Simon eventually got sentenced to serve 15-months—in which he served only 5—and got banned from Tinder as well as pretty much any mainstream dating platform you can think of. He is currently living free and offering a totally ethical “Simon Leviev’s Business and Personal Workshop,” for the economic price of $311, while his victims continue to raise money through a GoFundMe to pay off the extensive debts accumulated by the Tinder Swindler. All this to say, if someone you’ve met on Tinder is asking you for money before meeting each other’s families, you’re likely better off saying no. Might even warrant a ghosting.
NYFW x Metaverse
Is art imitating life or is life imitating art? By no surprise—given that the fashion industry is never far from the forefront of technological advances—New York Fashion week kicked off with an AW22 digital wearable by Jonathan Simkhai, ahead of his seasonal physical presentation. Simkhai transformed eleven of his wearable looks into digital counterparts, as part of Metaverse Fashion Week, an event produced by Everyrealm and Blueberry Entertainment. Everyrealm—a “metaverse real estate investor”—is also hosting an NFT sale of select wearables from the collection. To be clear, the garments were not the only thing digitized. So were the runway and models—think Sims. Oh, and so were the influencers, celebs, and media in attendance, in the form of their personalized avatars. Along with digital fashion shows, we have the future of trying on clothes at home using AR and potentially democratizing the fashion industry to look forward to.
Who Plays Faye in ‘Euphoria’?
Forget Fezco, there’s a new Euphoria character that has been capturing our hearts. The stars of Euphoria are largely to blame for everyone’s incessant obsession and social media scrolling after a new episode comes out because let’s be honest it’s half the fun. Faye was introduced in Euphoria’s Season 2 premiere and we became immediately enamored with her charm and comedic relief, even while insulting Rue and entering a chaotic drug deal. If you’re anything like us, you’ve taken to a google search to find the person behind Faye and discovered Chloe Cherry. For years, she’s worked as an adult movie star and Instagram personality, and not surprisingly, gained a fanbase by genuinely being funny and entertaining. She was already a fan of the show and made an adult film parody with her friend, based on a scene with Rue and Jules. Her character in Euphoria came about when Sam Levinson found her on social media and the rest is history. Faye is an elusive observationist, and Chloe Cherry explains her best, “I think you can tell she’s running away from something, and she’s just in a very, very strange place in her life. Honestly, this is a very riveting time for her. Faye is always feeling and noticing things. And I think that she’s just somebody that the viewer can continue to feel through.” Chloe Cherry’s presence, in my opinion, is important to Hollywood and her success in the role serves as a reminder that casting actors with non-traditional experience makes for more diverse and authentic characters.
