Taylor Swift Cancels Public Ticket Sales After Problematic Pre-Sale
This was really not a good week for Swifties. When news of Taylor Swift’s 2023 Eras tour initially arrived, fans were ecstatic having been deprived of a Swift concert for more than five years. That is until the pre-sale began on Tuesday and chaos ensued. Fans swarmed Ticketmaster in hopes of securing their tickets but hours-long wait times, technical glitches, and outrageously high ticket prices left many Swifties extremely disappointed. Twitter u/HereComesShawty tweeted “8 billion people in the world and every single one of them is ahead of me in the Taylor Swift Ticketmaster queue apparently” while u/abiwilk_ pointed out that “The Taylor Swift ticket presale is proof that the hunger games could actually happen in real life.” To make matters worse, many tickets were listed for resale afterward and priced at upwards of $10,000. Then Ticketmaster announced that the public sale for Taylor Swift’s The Eras tour will be canceled due to insufficient remaining ticket inventory. Hell hath no fury like a Taylor Swift fan scorned and many fans have taken to social media expressing truly emotional stories about why this ticket sale was so disheartening to them. Taylor herself took to her Instagram stories to address the ticketing disaster and said “​​I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could. It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.” The number of tickets sold is the most ever sold in a day on the platform but many have called into question the ethics and practices of Ticketmaster following the week’s events.

SZA Announces New Album “S.O.S” Is Set for a December Release 
SZA’s sophomore album has been a long time coming, five years to be exact after her breakout debut album Ctrl left R&B fans everywhere in a SZA chokehold. In a new interview with Billboard, SZA revealed that the album is called S.O.S and is set for a December release. But don’t hold your breath, she also revealed that she is “currently stressed” about meeting the release deadline and that she struggles to balance the demands of being an emerging artist with the demands of her personal life. She cited her 2019 performance with DJ Khaled on Saturday Night Live as an example saying that she had done so while her maternal grandmother, Norma, was gravely ill. “I just wish I spent those last moments with her at home. That was a hard lesson,” she said. “Like, ‘Great, I perform for a minute and 30 seconds on ‘SNL’ and I lost my grandma for the rest of my life.’” Coincidentally, she’s set to return to SNL on December 3rd for a performance while Keke Palmer hosts the episode. Hopefully, SZA manages to do it all and fans get an early Christmas present from her without making too many personal sacrifices. Because if it gets pushed back again—SOS.

Rosalía Slays 2022 Latin Grammys Stage Singing “Despechá” & More
Motomami Rosalía took to the Latin Grammy stage, as the most-nominated female artist of the year. She took to the stage wearing a red oversized jacket with statement glasses, performing the emotive and powerful “Hentai” on the piano to kick the performance off. The look transformed as she took off her coat to reveal her sleek black patent latex bodysuit in front of an all-white backdrop, to perform her bachata “La Fama”. She finally got everyone to their feet, including Marco Anthony Solís and Christian Nodal, both sitting in the front row, with her dance mambo anthem “Despechá”. Rosalía also took a moment to dance with her boyfriend Alejandro Rauw, also her number one fan—as he should be—just to remind all the humble viewers at home she is unfortunately taken. Watching this performance gave me flashbacks to seeing Rosalía in Toronto which was, in my opinion, the best show of summer and was giving me mad FOMO. She is an icon and a legend—she is the moment. She went on to rightfully claim her Latin Grammy for album of the year for Motomami, of course.

Notfortheo Release Debut EP, ‘half-life’, and Visuals For Single “down” 
Since releasing “just a little bit” and “interlock,” the Toronto trio notfortheo, has garnered attention for their distinctive indie-rock, chillwave sounds. Rightfully so, as their ghostly chorus and psychedelic musicality intertwine perfectly with the theme of technology burnout explored in their lyricism. Their debut EP, half-life, drops today, and the trio brings us along on their journey as they look to rekindle a sense of connection and hope after coming down from the chaos of addictions. Accompanying the album is a glitchy video for the track “down” which the band describes as “the sound of someone’s heart and mind slipping away from them, yet, also accepting the miles ahead on the road to recovery, to get things right again.” Aside from the laid-back tunes and ethereal synths that make the album the perfect musical companion to a smoke sesh, half-life is a good reminder for anyone who feels alone that we’re all more connected than we’re made to think.

End of an Era: Brockhampton Release Their Final Album(s)
Back in April at Coachella, Brockhampton announced that the boy band was coming to an end and they were to release a final album. Fast forward and that “final” album, The Family, was announced in October and released as promised. The record features lead vocalist Kevin Abstract, with Bearface and Boylife’s executive production, and is reminiscent of the sounds of The College Dropout and Late Registration. With its release, Kevin Abstract shared a goodbye note with many sentiments of coming-of-age confusion, risks, hopes, and gratitude that quite honestly, as an early fan of the group, had me in tears. He also addressed something many fans have commented on: “I understand that some of the fans are upset that no one is on the album but me. Over the past few years, the members of the band began to move our separate ways, and focus on our individual careers and passions. With this project, a few of us were inspired to make something new that would bring closure to the past and set the table for all of us to finally be able to explore our individual futures. I hope you understand and enjoy the music.” The Family technically remains the final album that they recorded. However, following the release of The Family, Brockhampton announced one more parting gift to us—another album entitled TM, released today, just a day after The Family, a collection of shelved recordings from the group’s 2021 sessions in Ojai, California which band member Matt Champion has executive produced. And as if two albums aren’t more than we could ask for, Brockhampton is ending their era officially on November 19th at The Fonda in LA with a free concert, also available to watch via Amazon Music’s Twitch channel. This is a quintessential bittersweet ending; mourning the end of the world’s beloved rap boyband in tandem with excitement looking toward the future of the group members going on to nurture their individual careers. And hey, at least we got a fair warning, proper closure, and two full-length albums to help us through it.
