Toronto came to CRANK IT, and Slayyyter gave us every reason to. By the time I arrived at the venue, a long line of fans stretched outside, with many still waiting near the box office for their chance to get inside. The show was sold out, and the excitement was palpable. Fans arrived dressed to the nines in their best Slayyyter-inspired looks, setting the tone for a night filled with energy, theatrics, and unapologetic chaos.
Pearly Drops opened the evening with a lively, dance-heavy set that got the crowd moving and set the tone for what was to come. But once the lights shifted and Slayyyter emerged through the door of her backyard-inspired stage set, the energy in the room changed completely.
The set design was playful and theatrical, transforming the stage into the backyard of a home. Fake weeds covered the ground, a white plastic chair sat onstage and, because of course, a carousel horse stood right on stage. It was an unexpected collection of details that perfectly suited the world Slayyyter created for the night.
She opened with “DANCE…,” immediately establishing the pace for the evening. From the first song, her stage presence was impossible to ignore. She moved confidently across the stage, commanding the attention of a packed room while delivering live vocals that were just as impressive as her recorded work. Her vocal range was on full display, from polished pop vocals to raw, piercing screams that had the crowd screaming right back.
“CRANK” brought the energy. As the song came to an end, the entire room erupted into a collective “CRANK! CRANK! CRANK!” chant. It was a perfect example of the electric connection between Slayyyter and her Toronto audience, with the room completely feeding off what she had created onstage.
The production added another layer to the experience. Halfway through the set, during “UNKNOWN LOVERZ,” Slayyyter traded the expected confetti for bubbles, with literal bubble machines filling the venue as the lights moved through the room. It was playful, unexpected, and visually striking, adding to the immersive feel of the performance. She brought the bubbles back one more time at the end of the night for her exit, giving the show a fittingly whimsical send-off.
“BIRDS (SLAYYYTER VERSION)” offered a different side of the performance. As both a Turnstile and Slayyyter fan, hearing her perform her take on the track live was a moment I had been waiting for. Her version takes a different approach to the original, giving her vocals more room to shine while still holding onto the grit that makes the song so powerful. Hearing that contrast live was easily one of my favourite moments of the set.
By the time Slayyyter reached “BEAT UP CHANEL$,” the venue was hot, sweaty, and still overflowing with energy. She closed the night on a high, leaving the crowd with exactly what they had come for: a high-energy performance anchored by impressive vocals, infectious stage presence, and a world that felt entirely her own.
For a Toronto crowd that showed up ready to sing, sweat, scream, and CRANK IT, Slayyyter delivered exactly the kind of night we came for — and then some.
