“SOAK IN BLUE”– pH-1
I’ve had pH-1’s “SOAK IN BLUE” on repeat ever since it dropped. It’s a slow, piano-driven ballad, which is different and refreshing from his usual hip-hop style. The lyrics are stunning and relatable, and his voice has this incredibly warm, emotive tone. I love how the layered synths and strings in the chorus build such an atmospheric vibe. I got to see pH-1 live in 2023, and he was actually the first and only artist I’ve ever splurged on a VIP Meet and Greet for. I’m beyond excited for his next tour stop at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on November 3!

DAISY – Rusowsky
Rusowsky’s new album was released in May, and I’m still obsessed with it. Genre-bending, upbeat, yet experimental, this album is the perfect soundtrack for any occasion. I’d also recommend Rusowsky’s Tiny Desk for an amazing unfiltered version of his music!

The Provocateur – Adéla
I’ve been so obsessed with Adéla’s debut EP, The Provocateur. She has this super strong, unapologetic vision, which is so rare and refreshing for a new artist. The whole project feels like it’s coming straight from her, blending these industrial beats with super confident lyrics. My go-to tracks are definitely ‘Superscar’ and ‘SexOnTheBeat’.

Hickey – Royal Otis
Royel Otis released their album “Hickey” on Aug 22 and its been on repeat ever since! It’s a perfect summer transition into fall album, and not a single skip! My favourite from the album are “good times” and “moody”. This is easily their best work yet! Makes me wanna go outside and enjoy the fresh air.

How to Win At Solitaire – Sophia Stel
What can I say, I am a sucker for smooth electronic pop that puts me in a trance. I’ve been locked in to Sophia Stel’s new EP – “How to Win At Solitaire” that came out on September 5th. “Taste”, Her single off the album has gone triple platinum while I’m working, while I’m biking, while I’m grocery shopping, while I’m getting ready for a girls night out… I’m addicted! Her sound hit me like a truck while I was listening to Vegyn Spotify Radio which also features Night Tapes, Caroline Polachek and Mk.Gee. She was added to my playlist “play when we have houseguests” at a rapid speed.

“Jealous Type” – Doja Cat
Doja Cat never disappoints. Her newest single “Jealous Type” has been on repeat for me and I really mean that when I say it. It’s currently my 5th most streamed song of the year so far with over 50+ plays in the few weeks that it has been out. I am addicted to the 80s production; it’s very Janet, and the moment I heard it I knew who produced this track, I can pinpoint Jack Antonoff’s signature drums anywhere! This song is so good, it doesn’t even need a bridge, Doja serves on the pre-chorus instead. I am beyond excited for Vie to drop and I love that Doja Cat has been fully leaning into the 80s aesthetic in her music video and red carpet looks.plus, she absolutely crushed opening the VMAs.

“Double Dare” – Slash Need
Riverfest Elora always delivers some amazing discovery acts, and this year’s surprise set of the weekend came from Toronto-based industrial techno performers Slash Need. As the sun was setting, they lit up the Koop Tent stage with a perfectly aggressive set that pulled me away from Sam Roberts Band. I’m so glad I took the time to dance and sweat through 40 minutes of high-energy, leather clad electronic. It’s a set I won’t forget anytime soon, and I can’t wait to catch their next show. I’ve listened to “Double Dare” a ton. With the chorus going something like…“Do you ever just shut up? Why don’t you let me talk? I double dog, double dog dare you to [shut up].” What’s not to love? Fans of Crystal Castles rejoice, Slash Need delivers in the best way.
