At the beginning of 2022, after months of rumors and speculation, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky finally confirmed their relationship had gone from two to three and they were expecting their first child. Of course, the entire internet freaked but little did we know that the greatest gift was yet to come—Rihanna’s maternity style. The singer and beauty mogul has taken everything conventional about maternity clothing—think big, loose, oversized—and turned it on its head opting for bare midriff tops, sheer dresses, and lots of designer pieces. Speaking to Refinery29 last month, Rihanna shared her mantra for dressing while carrying her child. “When women get pregnant, society tends to make it feel like you hide, hide your sexy, and that you’re not sexy right now [but] you’ll get back there and I don’t believe in that shit. So I’m trying stuff that I might not have even had the confidence to try before I was pregnant. The strappiest, the thinnest, and the more cut-outs the better for me.” Well said RiRi and I, along with the general public, am here for it. Right before Valentine’s day, RiRi wore an all-red custom leather coat-dress designed by Pieter Mulier for Alaïa with custom Amina Muaddi heels—RiRi style fans may already know but Muaddi is a shoe designer she often wears. Potentially influenced by A$AP’s connection to the designer, his AWGE brand collaborated with Muaddi on a collection in 2020.

Unclear if she was leaving the Super Bowl or Nobu restaurant but regardless the color scheme of her outfit supported the Los Angeles Rams wearing a navy bomber jacket with yellow faux-fur trim by Balenciaga, a blue headscarf à la A$AP Rocky babushka style, a sheer blouse, oversized jeans

Another paparazzi captured look shows Rihanna wearing her well-known Saint Laurent heart-shaped coat designed by Heidi Slimane, a Chicago Bulls jersey, embroidered brown sweats, and custom Amina Muaddi heels.

 

Out & About in NYC, February 17th

Spotted in New York, Rihanna leaned into a more casual but still daring maternity style wearing a leopard print coat unzipped to show off her baby bump with gold chains, an R13 baseball cap, and Saint Laurent mink-trimmed leather mules (same style different color available here).

 

Carbone NYC, February 18th

Stopping by the celeb-favorite restaurant Carbone, Rihanna opted for a street style look wearing an R13 workwear bomber jacket, New York Mets graphic tee (sports jerseys seem to be a common theme), rhinestone bedazzled Martine Rose Jeans, and Amina Muaddi Giorgia sandals styled on top of her jeans again.

Gucci F/W 22 Show Milan Fashion Week, February 25th

This is the beginning of Rihanna’s fashion month tour featuring many haute couture looks. Starting in Milan for Gucci’s show, she wore a latex crop top underneath a lilac fur coat from Gucci’s 2022 pre-fall collection, red dragon embellished black pants from the same Gucci collection, a Briony Raymond purple cross pendant, and Amina Muaddi Ursina pumps (Floral Ursina or same snake pattern as RiRi is wearing in Giorgia sandal).

 

Gucci F/W 22 After Party in Milan, February 25th

After the fashion show is the after-party, Rihanna kept her Gucci fur coat and wore a vintage monogram Gucci dress, a diamond cross pendant, a Gucci beaded purse, and Gianvito Rossi custom Montecarlo sandals.

 

Off-White F/W 22 Paris Fashion Week, February 28th

During Paris Fashion Week, Rihanna attended the Off-White show in a peach leather mini dress from the brand, a shearling camel coat straight from Diesel’s fall 2022 runway (a subtle flex), a Dior ostrich saddle bag, and a Saidian Kutchinsky coral necklace.

Back at her favorite spot, Giorgio Baldi, the style icon wore a KNWLS cat-print mini dress (sleeveless version still available), a vintage Christian Dior coat designed by John Galliano in 2002, Manolo Blahnik sandals, and jewelry from Patcharavipa, Djula, Briony Raymond, and Sue Gragg.

The shopping continues this time with her beau, wearing a tulle-tiered dress from Simone Rocha, Union LA x Air Jordan 4 retro “Guava Ice” sneakers, Loewe sunglasses (available in white), and layered gold chains. Taking a page out of Sex & The City’s Carrie’s book, Rihanna is always wearing heels and this is the first time she left the extra inches behind in favor of stylish Jordans.

Switching it up and going to Nobu (not Giorgio Baldi), Rihanna wore a ribbed knit Alaïa set in navy (halter top here, maxi skirt here), a matching navy trucker hat, Adidas sneakers, and a camo-print vintage Dior Saddle bag.
