2020 wasn’t the best year. We all relied on our AirPods rather than live music to feel something and our daily steps drastically decreased as work from home life set in. For thousands, this meant finding ways to stay motivated in our minimal square footage at home. That’s where buzzy lifestyle brand Peloton came in.
Much more than a stationary bike, Peloton has amassed a cult-like following with live classes that are streamed directly on their equipment. If you’ve ever taken a class, you’d know a key component of any Peloton class is the music. So much so, that it led to a series of artist collaborations with everyone from Beyoncé to Dolly Parton. For their latest collaboration, Peloton tapped the wildly popular face-off platform Verzuz, which also manifested during the pandemic. Riders will be able to listen to songs from the biggest names in music and tag which team they’re on while they sweat from the comfort of their home.
The first friendly music-catalog battle will be between two R&B icons from the 90s—Brandy and Monica. Round two is scheduled for hip-hop legends Swizz Beats and Timbaland, who are also the creators of Verzuz.
