Although the year isn’t done, 2026 has been one of, if not the weirdest year for music collaborations so far. When you think about combining genres, or legendary team-ups, you probably wouldn’t think it’d have taken this kind of direction. On top of that, certain celebrities have begun to get more involved in the music industry that never would have even crossed our minds when it came to what kind of music we’d be getting this year.

“Legendary Lovers Remix” – Katy Perry x Chief Keef
If there was a mix of pop and pure Chicago style rap, these two probably would have been the last two artists you’d expect to ever work together. However the collaboration wasn’t exactly the first time these two have been in touch. After a brief exchange over Twitter back in 2013, the two stayed in touch as only a year later Chief Keef sampled the original “Legendary Lovers” song for one of his fan favorite melodic rap songs, “Save Me” where Perry’s high pitched vocals that brought energy had been managed to be twisted into a dark atmosphere changing rap classic. Years later, the two have finally come together to officially release the remix with both individuals on the track this time, no sampling needed and certainly no Twitter beef.
“Boogie’s In My Soul” – Chaka Khan x Snoop Dogg
Chaka Khan’s upcoming album Chakzilla has been described by her to celebrate joy, freedom and self-love, and one of the best ways to express that is by bringing one of the world’s most adored rappers of our generation in Snoop Dogg. The song brings a high energy dance-pop vibe utilizing Melle Mel’s iconic “Chaka Khan” chant from her 1984 single, “I Feel You” with lyrics encouraging the listeners to “show the world your light.” The album release date is still a long way away, set to drop September 18th, so perhaps Chaka Khan has a few more surprise features up her sleeve prior to release.
“Let King Tonka Talk” – Yeat x Kylie Jenner
One of the more shocking collaborations of the year comes from one that doesn’t even feature a secondary artist, as Yeat teams up with Kylie Jenner to bring “Let King Tonka Talk” to life off of his most recent project A Dangerous Lyfe. The feature was Jenner’s first ever release as an artist on streaming platforms where on her debut she talks about her own “King Kylie” persona from the mid-2010s, while also mirroring Yeat’s bars where he brags about being a VIP inside of clubs and bars. This leaves fans wondering if this was just a one time thing, or if we can expect more music from “King Kylie”.
“Hive Mind” – Knocked Loose x Denzel Curry
In one of the more lowkey collaborations, Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry blended together hardcore with hip-hop through the harsh throat shredding vocals done by Bryan Garris. Top that off with Denzel’s aggressive rhythmic verses on a trap beat and it makes for one of the better sounding mixes of rap and rock music. The song’s purpose message is for listeners to understand what it means to do what feels good to you, not what the consensus has decided is good. This was an iron clad reminder from both sides to always say, think and do for yourself, and not to worry about how anyone else feels about that sentiment.
“Dracula” – Tame Impala x Jennie
While also being done as a remix, it’s pretty rare where we see Tame Impala feature other artists on any of his projects, with true features only happening once or twice on a project in an era. The song featured new vocal verses along with a bit of rapping from Jennie sending the duet viral skyrocketing up to second place on the billboard charts thanks to its massive wave on TikTok with a trending video featuring the track’s audio.
