“Stateside” – PinkPantheress
Recently I have been obsessed with PinkPantheress’s latest single “Stateside”. The track is low-end heavy with breathy vocals that tickle my brain. She sings “You could be my American hot, hot boy”, which is reminiscent of “So American” and “King of My Heart” by pop royalty Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift. I really like when artists play around with national or cultural identity in a flirty or romantic way. It adds this dreamy, cinematic layer to the music, like you’re watching a transatlantic love story unfold in three minutes. This song is just a sneak peek of what’s to come on her upcoming album ‘Fancy That’.

“Brunette” – Tucker Wetmore
Who doesn’t love a fun country song to play leading into the summer? Tucker is coming into his own on his new album and bringing us this care-free track to play. He’s the perfect fit to open for Thomas Rhett this summer and looking forward to seeing where he goes next.

BETA – Peter Cat Recording Co.
Seriously obsessed with Peter Cat Recording Co.’s new album, BETA! I’ve been a longtime fan, always vibing to classics like “I’m This” and “Portrait of a Time,” but tracks like “Foolmuse” and “Suddenly” off the new album are pure sunshine, turning my kitchen into a Sunday morning dance party. Seeing them blow up with sold-out shows and festival spots makes me even more desperate to experience their magic live when they finally hit my city! (Vogue Theatre, May 15th)

“Golden Hour” – Kacey Musgraves
Recently I’ve been loving Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves! I’m not usually a huge fan of country, but her voice and her lyricism has impressed me so much. I’ve been diving deeper into her music, and I’m slowly becoming a fan of her country-pop fusion. With the sunny days in Toronto starting to peek through, this is the perfect soundtrack for my morning walks to the office.

“California Sober” – Post Malone and Chris Stapleton
I’ve been very into “California Sober” by Post Malone and Chris Stapleton lately. I think the summer is the best time to listen to country music, considering its barbeque and festival season! Post Malone doing a pop-country album feels true to his roots and marries the two genres appropriately.

“The Path – Lorde
All month long, I’ve been walking around like the main character in an indie coming-of-age film, because “The Path” by Lorde has officially claimed squatter’s rights in my brain. It’s ethereal, it’s moody, it’s basically my emotional support anthem—and every time that beat drops, my soul does a little cartwheel in slow motion. Lorde says she’s not your savior, but let’s be real: when that chorus hits, she kind of is. I don’t know if I’ve found “the path,” but I’ve definitely found the playlist.

“Ordinary” – Alex Warren
Alex Warren’s new song “Ordinary” has been on my rotation lately. There’s a raw and honest quality to his voice that resonates. The lyrics feel personal, like a page taken straight from his own experiences. The song has a relatable quality, and it’s interesting seeing snippets of it pop up on TikTok. Knowing he’s touring makes the song even more engaging; and I hope I can see him play live.
