Summer is here, and there is no better way to kick it off than in the sunshine at this year’s inaugural Lakeshore Music & Arts Festival taking place in Burlington Ontario. The two-day event is a free entry outdoor celebration taking place this Father’s Day weekend June 20th to 21st at Burlington’s iconic Spencer Smith Park. The festival will come alive with engaging family-friendly programming, a wide variety of food trucks along with local artisans and of course the vibrant nationally celebrated Canadian artists and emerging performers set to take the stage to really make this festival one of Ontario’s premier outdoor music festivals and cultural events for years to come. For a sneak peak, here’s a bit of information on the events headliners for both days.
_
Saturday – Walk Off The Earth
Burlington’s very own Walk Off The Earth is set to perform in their hometown as a part of Saturday’s events. The group are known for often performing during the city’s larger festivals throughout the years so this comes as no surprise. The 2x Juno winning multi-platinum band known for blending pop, alternative folk and global influences has generated billions of views and streams online that has helped them sell out venues and arenas all over the world.
Saturday – Katie Tupper
They’ll be joined by Saskatoon’s own Katie Tupper. The Juno nominee who caps off an intriguing blend of soul, indie, alternative and R&B with a deep alto voice, is set to perform after the drop of her latest album Greyhound back in January. This album is a return to her roots with years of new experience after her two last projects, Towards the End (2022) and Where to Find Me (2023) amassed 22 million streams worldwide.
Sunday – The Trews
Sunday will be headlined with a group of 5, the Trews bringing their heavyweight rock ‘n’ roll to the stage, highlighted by their multiple radio hits drawn from their seven studio albums and other projects produced over the years. The Trews are one of Canada’s most successful rock bands over the last decade, earning themselves 20 Top 10 Rock Singles, including three times placing in first, and multiple Gold & Platinum certified albums. Their trophy case doesn’t end there however, as the band has received multiple East Coast Music Awards, a CIMA Road Gold Award, an Independent Music Award in 2009 for Best Rock / Metal Song along with numerous Juno Award nominations over their illustrious career.
Sunday – The Dirty Nil
The Dirty Nil will join the Trews on the stage on Sunday, set to perform their incredibly vastly diverse and flashy discography to their hometown’s neighbour for the Lakeshore Music & Arts festival. The Hamilton natives have 20 years of experience, where their records often show flair and flashiness they suddenly decided to strip it all back on their most recent project, The Lash introducing a new greyscaled version of themselves that almost seemed like a total reset, and it showed throughout the project offering a more cynical and raw version of themselves compared to the usual happy romanticism.
Other Performers!
Headliners don’t come without an opener, throughout the entire festival up and coming Canadian artists will be performing leading up to the headliners during the day, including names such as single performers Dominique Way, Avery Raquel, Rachel Bobbitt, Dynesti or bands like Pulse X, Lucky Honey, Lost Faculty and more, all listed on the official Lakeshore Music and Arts Festival website.
