The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega To Co-Star In Forthcoming Film
When it comes to task management, we can all learn a thing from The Weeknd. His silver screen debut, The Idol has yet to come out, and he already has his eyes set on the next big-screen project. Much of the film’s details remain tightly under wraps, but we got a few key details. After a taste in co-writing, producing, and starring in a TV series, Abel Tesfaye is now tapping Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega and Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning actor Barry Keoghan to make his next cinematic vision come to life. In addition to the star-studded cast, the other side of the camera is also top-notch. Reza Fahim and Kevin Turen, who worked with The Weeknd to executive produce The Idol, will join him again in this forthcoming film. Harrison Kreiss, known for his production role on the fan-favorite Euphoria is also enlisted. Although we still have to wait to hear what the genre and plot will be, I’m sure we’ll be in for a ride receiving the brainchild of The Weeknd’s dark and fantastical mind. In addition to his advancements in his screen debut, The Weeknd presents his first-ever live album this week Live At SoFi Stadium, produced by himself and Mike Dean. The 31-track collection captures his sold-out two-night shows at SoFi Stadium in LA back in November 2022, for his blockbuster stadium tour, After Hours Til Dawn. The set is career-spanning, with live performances from “Wicked Games” and “Kiss Land” to “The Hills,” “Starboy,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Die For You,” and “Blinding Lights.”

Kid Cudi Teases New Album & Tour
Kid Cudi comes to us with unanticipated exciting news this week after previously toying with our hearts considering his next career move as Mr. Cudi. After getting candid about his career projection in a Hot Ones episode last year, he admits thinking that he’s “nearing the end” of making music, sending many fans into a tailspin that they’d be counting the days before Cudder retires in music. Kid Cudi even expressed he was entertaining the idea of becoming a kindergarten teacher as his way to “inflect the youth with that freshness.” However, before the rapper learns hand-washing rhymes and clean-up songs, he’s got a little more creativity to exhaust in the music industry. “Album this Fall. First singles this summer,” Kid Cudi shares on Twitter, “The new chapter has begun…Ur not prepared man. We’ve reached a new level.” This isn’t the first tease he gave on a new music release—back in November of last year, he updated his followers that he made “6 new songs in 3 days,” and in December, “11 songs in 5 days.” Talk about a creative spurt! The upcoming record will follow his 2022 album, Entergalactic which was paired with the release of adult animated series under the same name and was named a winner during the 2023 NAACP Image Awards honoring outstanding writing on February 25th. Knowing that Mr. Rager always has his way to revel in intricate concepts and introspective thoughts, we should be safe to assume the same for this forthcoming album.

Nicki Minaj Returns With New Single “Red Ruby Da Sleeze”
Barbz, Mother is back and she’s giving dexterity and flow. Her spicy new single “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” samples Lumidee’s classic 2003 hit, “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)” and we hear Nicki channel her 2018 Street-Fighter style alter-ego, Chun-Li as she addresses her opps, and putting rappers with ghostwriters on notice. Over Cheeze Beats and Go Grizzly’s production, Nicki Minaj is holding nothing back, spitting punchlines from “Dorito bitches / mad that they nachos” and “Cus bitches couldn’t walk in my Crocs, that’s word to Dundee / Just a bunch of airheads like Kelly Bundy.” “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” marks Nicki’s first solo single since her 2022 “Super Freaky Girl”, her first solo No.1 single and made history as the first No.1 debut for a hip-hop song by a female artist without any accompanying acts. Not to say Miss Minaj hasn’t been busy—she released an array of songs with collaborators last year including the World Cup song “Tukoh Taka”, “I Admit” with Youngboy Never Broke Again, and “Blick Blick” with Coi Leray.

Musicians Band Together To Raise $300M For Youth Crisis
Artists for Feel Out Loud is the newest artist collective in town and they are bringing awareness to mental health among youth and raising funds for Kids Help Line, the charitable organization that provides online and telephone counseling and volunteer-led, text-based support in English and French to youth across Canada. Over 51 Canadian musicians came together to show support, including Alessia Cara, Jessia, Johnny Orlando, JP Saxe, Rêve, Roy Woods, The Reklaws, TOBi, and Tyler Shaw. The group of artists recorded the song “What I Wouldn’t Do (North Star Calling)”, a hybrid adaptation of lyrics from Serena Ryder’s “What I Wouldn’t Do” and Leela Gilday’s Juno-winning song, “North Star Calling.” The release of the song is accompanied by a music video and shows artist representation, and collaboration spanning provinces, territories, and cities from coast to coast. With the aim to raise a total of $300 million in funds, the proceeds from the music video will be donated to Kids Help Phone to support the cause.
