The Weeknd and Ariana Grande Reunite for “Die For You” Remix
Your favorite pop dynamic duo is back. The 2016 hit “Die For You” off of The Weeknd’s Starboy project has recently experienced a resurgence on the charts, with the song remaining in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for the last seven weeks. Capitalizing on this random re-popularization, The Weeknd tapped Ariana Grande for a remix of the smash, marking the fourth time the duo has collaborated, following “Save Your Tears,” “Love Me Harder,” and “Off the Table.” Earlier this week, Ariana Grande posted a TikTok video of her laying down vocals and harmonies, and working on her section of the song, sending fans into an absolute tailspin. “Wrote and recorded a verse for my friend after a 14-hour day on set. This exception had to be made….” she captioned the clip, prompting The Weeknd to repost on his Instagram account with a tearing-up emoji. No need for any of us to shed more tears, happy or sad, because the “Die For You – Remix” is officially out and ready to be played on repeat.

Ice Spice and PinkPantheress Crack the Top 10
Hyperpop grunge PinkPantheress and Bronx drill rapper Ice Spice both crack the Top 10 for the first time as a result of their successful bubblegum pop collab “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2.” You know the one—amassing TikToks that flood your fyp with videos lip syncing the top of Ice Spice’s verse over the Jersey club beat and PinkPantheress’ hypnotic chorus being hummed under everyone’s breath. The fiery single came as Ice Spice released her music video, “In Ha Mood,” the opening track of her debut EP Like..?, debuting at No. 37 on the Billboard 200. Whereas PinkPantheress, who transformed TikTok fame into a stable music career with her “new nostalgic” sound, debuted and peaked at No. 73 on the Billboard 200 in October of 2021 with her debut mixtape to hell with it,—where PinkPantheress’ “Boy’s a Liar” first appeared—with songs “Break It Off” and “Pain,” both cracking Top 40 of Billboard’s U.S. Hot Rock and Alternative Songs. The two breakout stars are making their mark and asserting themselves in the music industry as prosperous contenders, with the single racking up over 82 million streams on Spotify, climbing 54% in streams just this week, officially leaping Top 10 status, peaking at No. 4. This is a first for both artists and first Hot 100 appearance for well-known artist and producer Mura Masa. Not only are the streams racking up, but the single’s counterpart music video boasts over 24 million views on YouTube. Here’s to the iconic duo and their fruitful social media fame *cheers*.

Daft Punk Announce ‘Random Access Memories’ 10th Anniversary Reissue
Daft Punk, the legendary electronic Parisian duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, have officially announced the 10th-anniversary edition of their final album Random Access Memories. You may remember that two years ago, on February 22 at 2:22 pm, the duo broke the news of the dissolution of Daft Punk with an eight-minute video titled “Epilogue”—yet seemingly, there is a separation loophole for music that was previously unreleased. Last year, on the year anniversary of their breakup hard launch, their debut LP Homework was reissued on vinyl. To keep this same energy going, this year, on February 22, Daft Punk announced the forthcoming reissue of their five-time Grammy-winning final album, with nine previously unreleased songs and rare bonus tracks. Random Access Memories was initially recorded over several years, with collaborations with musical luminaries including Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Todd Edwards, and Paul Williams. The new edition is set to be released on May 12 and will be available in 3xLP, 2xCD, streaming, and downloadable formats, with the addition of a spatial audio (Atmos) mix of the original album, which will also be made available for the first time.

Drake Hints At Retirement In An Interview with Lil Yachty
The dream of early retirement is a sweet one—the financial independence, the freedom, and the bottomless mimosas by the beach. Well, it looks like Drake is drooling over this kind of paradise living too, as he just revealed his plans to retire in an interview with Lil Yachty. The idea of the “graceful exit,” as he likes to call it, is increasingly enticing to the 6ix god as he feels that he’s “at the point now where I just wanna, like, I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day, but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind.” This may come as a shock for fans as he had just come off from two mega-successful album drops—Honestly, Nevermind and his collab album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. Toronto’s Very Own had talked about his plans for the future before, in August last year, when he went on an episode of Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio, but his stance at the time was the opposite. “I’m not at that point where I even consider that being an option,” Drake explained to Nicki, “one of the best feelings I have in my life is completing a song or project. But I feel like I’m reaching a new level of fun. I’ve reached a new level of comfortability where I want to try things. Like this last album, I put out something I wanted to do to challenge myself.” What changed over the year? Is this a prank that the rapper-turned-jester is trying to pull on us? What do we have to do to gracefully exit our commitments and bask under the sun while pondering about life and leisure? We need answers, Drizzy!

Don Toliver Drops Third Studio Album ‘Love Sick’
It’s a good week for Don Toliver fans because in addition to his announcement of joining Future for the American leg of his ‘One Big Party Tour’ the Houston native dropped his third studio album, Love Sick, today, and it brims with notable features. The album encapsulates an evolution in Don’s sonic capabilities to morph from Hip Hop to R&B effortlessly. The 16-song tracklist was first revealed in disguise as items off of a coffee menu, and features—or as he calls it “the cast of characters”—Lil Durk and GloRilla to Kali Uchis, TisaKorean, James Blake, Justin Bieber, Future, WizKid, Charlie Wilson, Brent Faiyaz, and Toro y Moi. This project has been a long time coming, as he first talked about the process of this album coming together back in 2021 in an interview with W Magazine. He foresaw the new album to differ from A Life of A Don and that he has “some crazy records, stuff in the chamber, a lot of good music I’d been holding on to that will be on this album.” Celebrating such a momentous occasion, Don went on Instagram to give a personal shoutout to each of his collaborators on the album with some unique vintage art. To Brent Faiyaz, he wrote, “Dude is crazy. This song is crazy. You a GOAT fasho. Appreciate you, bro.” “Uncle Charlie. The Myth! The undisputed Champ! Tonight is special for me. OG, thank [you] beyond words,” he wrote to Charlie Wilson. Accompanied by a self-written short film available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, Love Sick expands Don’s horizon as a musician and artist. If you fell in love with Don through his melodic R&B trap sounds from his early days, get ready for the ride because he is doing it right.

The Darcys Release “Trouble Found Me”
After being “Washed Away” from a single last year, The Darcys returns with their newest record, “Trouble Found Me.” The music duo, Jason Couse and Wes Marskell, is Toronto’s up-and-comer in the alternative rock scene. Their newest track follows the release of their mega-successful radio hits “Running For the Hills” and “Washed Away.” Described as a distorted alt-rock anthem contorted by angular guitars, pulsing drums, and an explosive chorus, “Trouble Found Me” is groovy and sizzles with rhythm. The Darcys are defining the sound of their next era with their newest release, and their forthcoming EP is due in the Fall of 2023.
