Rolling Loud Announces Toronto Festival With Future, Dave, and Wizkid
The renowned rap festival, Rolling Loud, is coming to Canada. After very successful installments in Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Portugal, and Australia, Rolling Loud has decided that Toronto is the next city to host. Before you ask, Drake is not headlining but I wouldn’t rule him out as a surprise special guest considering he’s friends with many of the artists on the bill. In true Rolling Loud form, they have a stacked lineup for the first-ever Canadian edition with Dave, Future, and Wizkid as the main headliners for the three-day festival. Dave is also not the only UK rapper performing, Central Cee, AJ Tracey, and Aitch will all be there. Naturally, the lineup has to include Toronto talent—Pressa, Roy Wood$, Smiley, Jazz Cartier, Pengz, and Killy to name a few. The festival will take place on September 9-11th 2022 at Ontario Place and tickets are currently for sale.

Future Releases New Album ‘I Never Liked You’ Feat. Kanye and Drake
The toxic king, Future, is back baby, and just in time for summer. He released his ninth studio album this week, I Never Liked You (the most Future title ever) with features from Drake, Kanye, Young Thug, Gunna, EST Gee, and Kodak Black. I would like to take this opportunity to point out that sad music, emo music, and general in your feels music are always praised for their ability to wreak havoc on our emotions but what about idgaf music? As a Pisces, sometimes I’d like to not be in my feels and channel the immaculate unbothered, and confident vibes of Future. End rant. Honorable mention goes out to the songs “Wait For U” feat. Drake and Tems and “I’m On One” feat. Drake, again, because who else would be an appropriate guest for two songs with such polarizing titles? Certified Lover Boy, of course.

R&B Darling Amaal Taps Syd For New “Lullaby” Single
Following the release of her 2021 EP Milly, and a three-stop tour opening for Jojo, Amaal is back with a new single called “Lullaby” feat. Syd. Meant to be sensual, not sleepy, the single builds on the personal evolution and vulnerability Amaal shared in Milly. “This song depicts a very innocent, pure type of love. We’re not hiding any emotions or letting insecurities get in the way. Syd and I are singing from our own perspectives about the feelings that are raw and real to both of us,” Amaal says giving more insight into the collaboration.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Announces New Emo-Themed Music Podcast 
Calling emo fans everywhere, Hayley Williams has a new podcast 4 u. Titled Everything Is Emo, the podcast is part of BBC Sounds’ Back to Back series and Williams will chronicle the history of the emo genre over the 20-episode series. During each hourlong episode, Williams will dive into the music that inspired her and shaped the ‘90s while including her own anecdotes from her time as the frontwoman for one of the most popular emo bands ever—Paramore. In a statement about the project, Williams said “Everything is Emo is meant to feel like a conversation with other fans of the genre, young and (ahem) old. There’s going to be plenty of interaction, which I hope will feel somewhat reminiscent of the message boards and forums I used to frequent as a teenage scene kid.”

Giveon Tries to Ignore Red Flags in Beautifully Painful Ballad ‘Lie Again’ 
Giveon’s first song of 2022 is here, “Lie Again” is also the first single from his highly anticipated debut album. The slow ballad is full of the emotional storytelling Giveon is known for—paired with his honey-smooth vocals and it’s one of those achingly beautiful songs that makes even the hardest of hearts feel something. Singing directly to his lover, he pleads that they lie to him so he doesn’t have to face the harsh reality of the truth. Ignorance is bliss, right? Or as Giveon eloquently puts it, the song is about “detailing the complexities of overlooking red flags to remain blissfully ignorant in the name of love.”
