My first rave was never going to be an ordinary night, but experiencing it under the spell of Fred again.. felt like a true initiation. I’ll be honest: I was scared going in. Raves have never really felt like “my scene,” and stepping into something so intense for the first time had my nerves buzzing almost as loudly as the speakers. But from the moment I entered that intimate, 5,000-person Toronto crowd on his USB002 tour, part of his ambitious run of 10 shows in 10 cities over 10 weeks, something shifted.
The air was thick with anticipation in the best possible way. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I felt pulled into something warm, something communal. It became clear almost immediately that this wasn’t just a show or a concert; it transformed into a temporary world Fred was building in that airport hangar with all of us inside it.

Fred has this rare gift of transforming the personal into the universal. His intricate beats didn’t feel like just “party music” so much as invitations to move and to feel free. When familiar tracks like “Jungle” and “Delilah (pull me out of this)” roared through the venue, the force of the crowd moving as one was unreal. Even for someone who doesn’t typically gravitate toward raves, it was impossible not to get swept up in that unity.
The energy was intense but surprisingly warm. There were soaring highs, sudden emotional drops, and moments where I found myself smiling at complete strangers because we were all feeling the same thing at the same time. I may have walked in nervous, but those feelings dissolved into something else.
@loafoodies will be hard to top this one🥺 #fredagain #edm #toronto
By the end of the night, I knew raves still aren’t really “for me,” but this night, under Fred’s guidance, felt different. Fred again.. didn’t just play a set; he created a space where even someone like me, someone unsure and out of their element, could feel part of the collective.
