If you’re anything like us, we see an interesting headline during our daily scroll—pause to read it—but then keep scrolling without reading the actual story. So at the end of each week, we’re rounding up all the buzziest, news-worthy headlines you might have missed. Think of it like the “saved” feature on Instagram but for news instead of aesthetically pleasing photos. Florence and the Machine released a new video for their new song “King”, Kanye West premiered ‘Donda 2’ at a listening party in Miami, and Britney Spears landed a publishing deal for a tell-all memoir—this is what you missed this week.

Florence + the Machine Release New Video for New Song “King”
“I am no mother, I am no bride, I am king,” Florence Welch sings on new song “King”, co-written and co-produced by Jack Antonoff. The new song arrived this week, along with its counterpart video, directed by Autumn de Wilde. In a statement about the new release, Florence shares, “As an artist, I never actually thought about my gender that much. I just got on with it. I was as good as the men and I just went out there and matched them every time. But now, thinking about being a woman in my 30s and the future, I suddenly feel this tearing of my identity and my desires. That to be a performer, but also want a family might not be as simple for me as it is for my male counterparts. I had modeled myself almost exclusively on male performers, and for the first time I felt a wall come down between me and my idols as I have to make decisions they did not.” Florence + the Machine continue to reign supreme and I look forward to a potential new album, marking their return since 2018’s ‘High as Hope’.

Kanye West Premiered ‘Donda 2’
It wouldn’t be a Ye album release without a listening party equipped with an unreal set and appearances by some of the biggest names in the music industry. On 2/22/22, Kanye West held his “Donda Experience Performance” event in Miami, marking the premiere of ‘Donda’ sequel ‘Donda 2’. The event was live streamed, shown in Imax theaters, and on West’s Stem Player website. After hours of listening to a pre-show heartbeat, the show kicked off with a burning house and a feature by the late XXXTentacion, who appears on multiple ‘Donda 2’ tracks. Kanye West was also joined on stage by Migos, Pusha T, and Jack Harlow, all who seem to have their respective place on the album. Alicia Keys and Fivio Foreign also showed up to deliver a live performance of “City of Gods”, which was released earlier this month. ‘Donda 2’ will only be made available through the Stem Player, with Kanye recently turning down a deal from April and choosing to release the album via his own platform. So far, four songs—”Security”, “Pablo”, “Open Road”, and “We Did It Kid”—are available for download for those who have purchased and received the Stem Player.
