It’s just tacky, and I love it,” Peach PRC says. “It’s maximalist. Sometimes people put me in a hyper-pop category. I call it bubblegum pop because it’s so sickly sweet [and] everything is thrown at the wall.” The Australian pop artist—and ethereal fairy princess from our sweetest dreams—and I connect on a couch at Universal Music in Toronto, chewing over the quality and conditioning of her music that makes it quintessential Peach-pop. It’s this signature Peach PRC sound that seeped into her six-track debut EP Manic Dream Pixie that asserted her as one of the most exciting new-wave pop artists. From her unique experience with synesthesia that amplifies her craft to her candidness about mental health which she shares with her 2M+ TikTok followers, Peach PRC embraces authenticity and neurodiversity, creating a refreshing and relatable space within the pop music landscape with a community as sickly sweet as her music.
For myself, and many others, Peach’s presence made itself known through TikTok, rising to fame on the platform after launching in 2019, with her bona fide vlogs, documenting her killingly funny intrusive thoughts and day-to-day high jinks. We came for the laughs and stayed for the emotional depth. By the time her debut single “Josh” was released, her name and reputation preceded her. Though ‘Seasoned TikToker’ is on her robust resume of experience and skills, Peach PRC is, and was, an artist first, as is reflected in her autobiographical music.

Every noise has a color and texture. But also, weirdly, letters and numbers have personalities. That helps me remember who is who.

“I can’t pinpoint an exact moment where I was like, ‘This is what I have a passion for,’” she tells me, recalling the genesis of her inclination toward music, “But, I know that I’ve always loved it, and enjoyed it. It was something that has naturally always been what I’ve done. It’s second nature.” Her comprehensive vision extends beyond the music itself, but to an entire imaginative fairytale-esque world, which can be experienced through the Manic Dream Pixie EP counterpart short film of the same name, accounting for formative moments of her life. “It just accidentally turned out that way,” she explains, “They had all been real moments that happened in my life, it had just turned out to be that way. They all have their own meanings and I leave it up to the listener to feel whatever they feel from it, I try to stay out of that.”
A true marker of her unique artistry is her ability to perceive sensory experiences in an interconnected way, informed by a condition of synesthesia, which, she tells me, facilitates a cohesive vision that extends beyond the music alone. “Every noise has a color and texture. But also, weirdly, letters and numbers have personalities. The chord F has a personality [different] from G. That helps me remember who is who and how to play them in what order. With visuals, if I’m editing cover artwork or trying to color grade something and I have music on, it’ll affect what kind of color grading I do. I’ll come back the next day and say, ‘That’s way too cool-toned, why did I do it like that?’ It was because I was listening to something that felt blue to me.”
Given Peach PRC’s thoughtful creativity and imagination, it’s no surprise that she is a multi-hyphenate creator who has worked mostly independently, which can be felt as a mixed blessing. “I don’t want to be this independent,” Peach admits. “I like knowing that whatever is in my head is how it’ll be… There are people that went to school for these things that are trained to do them. I can’t film myself, edit, and color grade. I have a very specific vision and someone else is having to try to make it happen. The more I do it, the more I’m working with the right people. I’d like to have more help.” Balancing her artistic vision with the expertise of others has been a learning curve, but Peach PRC acknowledges the importance of finding the right collaborators to bring her creative ideas to life.
Peach’s songwriting, her primary driving force, surpasses the capabilities of any collaborator she could involve to execute her vision. “The main thing is that I’m storytelling and that’s what I enjoy about it.” While a melody can tether you to a song, the lyrics can have the power to unearth it. There’s no room for debate on which vital ingredient of a song is more important—it’s a paradox that can be mulled over indefinitely—however, you are likely more inclined to be more aware of one over the other. For Peach? “One hundred percent lyrics.”
“It was my dad that said he never hears the lyrics. I’d send him my music and ask, ‘What do you think?’ And he’d say, ‘It’s great!’ And I’m like, ‘It’s a really, like, sad song.’ And he’d say, ‘Oh it is?!’ ‘Didn’t you listen? What do you mean you don’t hear the words? That’s the whole thing, it’s words, I’m singing words, what are you hearing?’ And he says, ‘Just the vibes, the music, the melody.’ That’s the last thing I think about.” We both agree that it’s probably best that there are some songs that go right over his head.
Peach PRC naturally unfolds in the process of her songwriting. “I make the songs, almost like a diary entry. I don’t have anyone else in mind when I’m writing. It’s not a message I’m trying to put out. I’m just feeling what I’m feeling and I’m talking about it and once it’s done, and out there, it’s theirs. And whatever they feel or need from that, or healing they get from that, or not healing and just enjoying the sounds—anything, it’s up to them.”
Her songs hold delicate and nuanced feelings, all with their own meaning that she leaves up to her listeners to feel what they need to. Her openness, both online and in her craft, has strengthened her bond with her audience, connecting to us through deeply personal experiences—unstigmatized and plainly-spoken about all things mental health diagnoses and troubled pasts. Consider what you would keep to your closest friends’ group chat or a candid therapy session. Peach PRC would lay it bare all over her social media or through the journey of writing and recording; inevitably dragging any deserving ex in a sweet song with a bold bite.
When you experience something horrible, you’ve worked through the feelings, cried about it, and now it’s like, ‘That’s kind of crazy that that happened and it was kind of silly.’ I feel like that’s where I write the songs from. It’s a silver lining.
Blending light-heartedness and emotional depth, Peach equally embraces both humor and sensitivity and holds nothing back. “I think it’s how I approach everything serious and sensitive for me. I’ve felt already the sadness of it all or the depth of it, and the emotions from that, and now it’s something I can look back at and laugh at.”

There’s no shortage of poignancy, passion, and pink in the world of Peach PRC and the community she has cultivated. In a demanding, fast-paced world that has the propensity to make any neurodivergent person struggle to feel capable of having it all or at best, functional on many days, Peach is an aspirational beacon of light who provides comfort by being a role model of embracing imperfections and laughing them off. This support system is mutually beneficial, she shares, “It’s been really pivotal for everything I’ve done, the connection people feel and I also feel with them. When I say something that might be really intense, and someone is like, ‘Ah, me too!’ It’s not just me. It goes both ways.”
The Peach PRC community is a reflection of her kindness and openness, which extends itself to the interminglings of her audience, which she’s now had the privilege of witnessing at her shows, first with a headlining tour in Australia, and now being on the road to North America and the UK. “They’re so sweet and look after each other. I see it in my comments. Seeing them all in person has felt tangible and real.”
It’s an online and irl environment that Peach feels comfortable sharing the rawest sides of herself with—an intimate population of 2.1M on TikTok alone, full of glitter pop girlies and gays who share their own adventures in return—that led her to openly come out as lesbian and speak on her identity journey publicly in 2022. “Having that safety net to fall into when I came out, that I could take that extra step to come out as a lesbian and people were like, ‘We know. We’ve been trying to tell you for years, it’s fine.’ It’s been nice,” she says.
In fact, the first single of her EP “Perfect For You” sees her entangled in a wild lesbian love triangle that persists, regardless of the costs, and pays homage to another member of this highly regarded community she has nurtured—Paris Hilton. On an already impressive list of achievements, being Paris-Hilton-approved is a highlight. “It was originally something not ever meant to be heard by anyone, that’s why I put that interpolation in there, I didn’t realize that was something you could do,” she explains, “And when it did get released, and Paris Hilton, not only was okay with it but liked it, it was wild. [Paris] sent me a voice note [saying], ‘I’m just on my way to the Grammy’s and listening to your song.’ I’m like, ‘What the fuck are you saying?’ This is the craziest thing ever. It just feels like not real life. She’s been so supportive and sweet to me, just the kindest person ever.”
Peach PRC has emerged as a vibrant and authentic force in the pop music landscape, with her maximalist bubblegum pop sound full of bombastic beats teamed up with barefaced, absurdly comical lyrics, captivating listeners worldwide as sweet as her. Her story, characterized by unwavering dedication and a simple inclination to create, continues to develop—one I’m sure we will be privy to as she is a self-described oversharer and rarely one for understated elegance. “What is happening right now is amazing and I’m grateful and in the moment,” she shares, looking ahead, “I would like to envision continuing to do this and more. Being able to handle more. I want to make the exact sort of pop music I’ve been striving to make. And I think I can do it even better than last time.”
