The resurgence of pop-punk music from the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Willow Smith, and jxdn is bringing back feelings of teenage angst that I thought I aged out of a decade ago. Why was I so angsty at the age of 15 while living at home with no real adult problems? Probably because I was listening to Avril Lavigne, Paramore, and Green Day on a daily basis from my CD player. These nostalgic Gen Z-induced feelings have inspired me to revisit my 2000s music catalog and I’m not mad about it. If you, like me, are experiencing these feelings of nostalgia, then please enjoy this trip back to the 2000s when pop-punk was THE genre to listen to. A J-14 magazine and a poster taped to your wall are not required, but highly recommended.
