As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking the time to look back on the year, and all the memorable moments that have happened. Exciting new artists have taken over the global stage, legendary performers have released new music and set out on world tours, and music has played a vital role in some of the biggest moments in sports and on screen – and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour has finally wrapped up.
Between 12 cover stories, 32 features, 52 This Week In Music updates, and 82 staff contributions to our articles, the BeatRoute staff have kept busy this year bringing you everything you need to know. We’ve had quite the year, and we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of our favourite moments.

2025 saw the launch of BeatRoute’s Comedy page, which has led to a number of exciting and hilarious features. Over the course of the year, we sat down with comedians like Nurse John, Pete Holmes, and Connor Wood. We’re looking forward to lots of laughter in the new year as we continue growing our Comedy coverage!

Country music had another massive year, with a new Grammy category for Best Contemporary Country Album and country artists dominating the charts. We had the honor of chatting with Riley Green for our March cover story, where he shared anecdotes about his upbringing and his unique musical stylings.

2025 honestly might have been the year of the concert, and we were lucky enough to see lots of our favorite artists live. This year, we couldn’t stop talking about our fav concerts, so naturally we had to write about them too. From raves (Fred again..) and hyperpop (2hollis), to metal (BABYMETAL), country (Morgan Wallen), and pop (Sabrina Carpenter), we’re pretty sure we’ve got almost every genre covered.

Speaking of our favorite artists… We’re feeling extra thankful for all of the incredible artists that sat down with us this year. Audrey Hobert, Blondshell, Emei, Nessa Barrett, Elijah Woods, and so many other fantastic musicians gave us an inside look at their creative processes and personal experiences.

Another genre that has continued to take the world by storm is electronic music. Iconic artists like Fred again.. and RÜFÜS DU SOL embarked on record-setting tours, and artists from many genres are putting out super fun electronic remixes. For our August cover story, we talked to DJ and producer John Summit, who is making waves in the scene right now (and two back-to-back shows in Whistler next spring).

We love seeing artists shaking things up and setting off on new endeavours, and we were so thrilled to have a conversation with Ashe and Finneas (of The Favors) for our September cover story. The two shared the fascinating ways in which they came together as artists to release The Dream as a duo, and really reminded us how joyful it can be to explore your creativity as an artist in new ways.

We are so proud to see artists get their flowers, and that is certainly the case for the newly Grammy-nominated Olivia Dean. Sitting down with her and hearing all about her experience writing The Art of Loving for our October cover story was an absolute treat, and we are so happy for her!
We can’t wait to see what 2026 will have in store for BeatRoute and for the music industry as a whole. To kick things off, stay tuned for our January cover story… It’s a good one that you won’t want to miss!
