‘West End Girl’ – Lily Allen
I don’t say this lightly… I am pinching myself that I get to experience such a personal piece of art like this in real time. It’s transparent, brutal, vulnerable, yet strangely refreshing (gun-shot sounds in “Madeline” are appropriately placed for shock value). She doesn’t hide behind metaphors, it’s her expressing the twisted and bitter tension of her divorce in a jaw-dropping way. It’s not your typical “Gaslighter” or “Lemonade” relationship tell-all album, it’s personal enough that it feels like listening to your best friend’s 45-minute voice memo. Not to mention that “Pussy Palace” and “Ruminating” are laced with the most infectious melodies (collab with Charli XCX when??!).
– Emilia
The album’s title track gives listeners a diary-entry style perfect Lily Allen song. A brutally honest and captivating piece of storytelling wrapped in her signature witty, deceptively sweet-sounding pop using a sunny, bossa nova-like melody.

‘Pale Moon Pale Horse’ – Truman Sinclair
I have been obsessed with Truman Sinclair who makes folk/americana and his EP Pale Moon Pale Horse which kind of sounds like it could score a season of Friday Night Lights.

‘I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet (Deluxe)’ – Del Water Gap
Been coming back to this album a lot lately (probably too much) and making it EVERYBODY’s problem…

“Rubber Band Man” – Mumford & Sons, Hozier
I am listening to Rubber Band Man by Mumford & Sons and Hozier. I loved Mumford & Sons most recent album Rushmere and the release of this song makes me so excited for their new album Prizefighter. The collab with Hozier is so good and makes me super excited to hear the other collabs on the album including Gracie Abrams and Chris Stapleton. Love the lyrics and vibe of this song and can’t wait for more from this album!!

‘The Boy Who Played the Harp’ – Dave
I’ve been waiting on a new Dave album for years and he didn’t disappoint on The Boy Who Played The Harp. It’s the most grown and introspective Dave album yet and I especially love the track “Chapter 16” featuring Kano. The two UK rappers go bar for bar on the song that makes it feel like you’re sitting at a dinner table with the two having a convo about life over a meal. It’s perfect.

‘Everyone’s Talking’ – All Time Low
Mom…it was never a phase!! All Time Low have been soundtracking my life since my early teens, and their new album Everyone’s Talking is proof they’ve still got it. Twenty-two years later, they’re proving pop-punk can grow up without losing its spark. The record is packed with the hooks and heart that fans have grown to love — but with a fresh energy that reminds you why they’re still at the top of their game. So grab your eyeliner and style those side bangs, All Time Low are back and better than ever.

“THE GREATEST” – Billie Eilish
Recently, I was scrolling on TikTok and saw people sharing their favourite crash out songs. This really inspired me to get a crash out playlist going on my phone, because sometimes you just need to to turn the volume all the way up and let it out. I scrolled, and scrolled, getting recommendations for what songs to add to my playlist and the one that I have been enjoying the most is “The Greatest” by Billie Eilish. Now this song is far from new to me, but I have just found a renewed love for it. The way that the song builds and swells at the end is unparalleled. Her voice is so beautiful and I just want to scream along and maybe punch something too.

“Loser” – Julia Wolf
Crashout queen Julia Wolf masterfully captures the feeling of spiralling and overthinking in this deliciously noisy two minute track. Her album PRESSURE, which came out this past May, is a perfect alt-rock indietronica fever dream of ‘we’re so over’ and ‘it’s so back.’ Julia is finally getting her flowers and I’m so happy for her!!!
