Kaytranada and Aminé Release Highly Anticipated Collaborative Album ‘KAYTRAMINÉ’
Legendary producer Kaytranada and rapper Aminé drop their first collaborative self-titled album Kaytraminé, full of imaginative hits for a carefree summer. The journey to the album was a long time coming, tracing back to 2014, early in Aminé’s career, remixing Kaytranada’s track “At All”, retitling as “Not At All” and sharing on his SoundCloud while Kaytra was making a name for himself working with acts such as Kali Uchis, Anderson .Paak, and Kendrick Lamar. Almost ten years later and the first taste of the duo came by way of “4EVA”, their debut single, premiering the song live at Kaytranada’s set at Coachella. The vivacious track has melodic strings and a co-production credit from Pharrell Williams, which set the tone for the highly anticipated album. “Rebuke” is a top contender for the hottest and most infectious track on the album, having a smooth RnB melody with tropical polyrhythms, a common thread woven throughout the project. Kaytraminé enlists an impressive repertoire of established artists that elevate the album such as Snoop Dogg on “Eye,” rapping leisurely about love alongside harmonized vocals and synth soundscapes, Freddie Gibbs on “letstalkaboutit,” with his notorious raw baritone and ferocity, and Amaarae on “Sossaup,” bringing her silky bell-like vocals to the twinkly track. The duo is complementary, to say the least, Aminé with his clever quips and bubbling flow and Kaytranada’s experimental and vibrant production, making for a vibrant and animated album layering genres and sounds that tickle your brain and uplift your mood, perfect for blasting from a speaker at the beach all summer long.

Lizzo Gets Cartoonified on ‘The Simpsons’
Lizzo is making rounds through the most infamous of fictional landscapes, from performing a cookie flute for Elmo on Sesame Street, to meeting Baby Yoga on The Mandalorian, to now being cartoonified to jam out with Bar, Lisa, and Homer on The Simpsons. On Monday, she announced her cameo on the longtime beloved cartoon series along with a teaser of her appearance, writing on Instagram, “Every Icon has been on @thesimpsons — now I can add my name to the list! Thank you to the whole team for making this a dream come true.” Not only did Lizzo get her moment on the show, but so does her famous collaborator Sasha Flute. For those of you who aren’t aware of Sasha, she is Lizzo’s flute and has more followers on Instagram than you do—345,000 to be exact. Sasha also shared the news via her profile, with the caption: “Ok…. How do I say this w out gettin too cocky… IM OFFICIALLY THE MOST FAMOUS FLUTE IN D WORLD. WE ARE TRULY WINNING FLOOT GANG.” Lizzo and Sasha’s appearance on The Simpsons is all too fitting, coming several months after Lizzo dressed up as Marge Simpson for Halloween, going the whole nine yards painting her skin yellow and wearing a tall blue wig, asserting herself as a devoted fan worthy of her own cameo.

Lewis Capaldi Drops Second Studio Album ‘Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent’
Scottish heartthrob, and our May cover star, Lewis Capaldi releases his sophomore album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, packed with emotional depth. Following his first album’s success, Lewis Capaldi felt the pressures of fame which spiraled into imposter syndrome and identity crises, first shared with his fans through the vulnerable documentary How I’m Feeling Now. We saw a different side of Lewis Capaldi, who normally presents with light-hearted and humorous nature, that expressed concerns that his second album would not live up to the same commercial success and critical acclaim. It’s safe to assume that Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent defies fans and Lewis’ expectations. “Forget Me” and “Wish You The Best” are rich with emotional complexity and passion, while “Heavenly Kind Of State Of Mine” encourages listeners to get go of their sadness and lose themselves to dance, and tracks “Love The Hell Out Of You” and “Any Kind of Life” capture different stages of falling in and out of love. “The Pretender” is a sure highlight on the album, standing out for delving into the aforementioned struggles with imposter syndrome and showcasing his radical honesty and vulnerability. While the album is consistent with the Lewis Capaldi we’ve grown to love, a newfound maturity and growth, with a heavier pop influence, infuses the album with a fresh, renewed energy that is palpable, asserting him as an artist with well-deserved praise who will have continued success.
