Tyler, the Creator Drops Deluxe Album ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale’
Just shy of two years since he dropped his Grammy-nominated album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, and took it on the road, Tyler, the Creator is back to complete the era. Earlier this week, Tyler suddenly dropped “DOGTOOTH”, the first of a handful of unreleased songs that we now know would make it to his new project, deluxe album CMIYGL: The Estate Sale. “Call Me If You Get Lost was the first album I made with alot of songs that didnt make the final cut,” Tyler tweeted, “some of those songs I really love, and knew they would never see the light of day, so Ive decided to put a few of them out.” And with that, it was officially a great week to be a Tyler fan. “DOGTOOTH” has grit, with wordplay and vibes adjacent to “Potato Salad” and arrived with its vividly striking music video counterpart, directed by Tyler himself. Soon after, on Wednesday, came “SORRY NOT SORRY” with DJ Drama returning as a hype man of the track, and yet another, self-directed music video by Tyler, that showcases all of his musical eras: Wolf Haley, Gap Tooth, Flower Boy, Igor, Tyler Baudelaire, and more. The video wraps up with each version of him in their respective artistry, appearing in front of a tearful crowd. The song itself is an outpour of apologies from Tyler, involving reckonings of him being too self-involved throughout his career and addressing his ancestors. The meticulous full deluxe project has officially been released, with additional songs “EVERYTHING MUST GO”, “STUNTMAN” featuring Vince Staples, “WHAT A DAY”, “WHARF TALK” featuring A$AP Rocky,  “HEAVEN TO ME”, and “BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND” featuring YG. Tyler, the Creator, being the transparent artist he is, made commentary over Instagram post-release, where he mentions “WHARF TALK” being his favorite on the album and thanking Ye for his work on “HEAVEN TO ME”, adding it was one of his favorites from him, ever. In addition, he released the visually captivating music video for “WHARF TALK” to add to his impressive collection. Tyler is a dedicated and detail-oriented artist, carefully decisive about which songs make his projects, each equipped with its own visual language and concept. CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale is the deluxe album we didn’t know we needed, because even with the OG having a runtime of nearly an hour, who wouldn’t want more?

Madlib Says He’s Finishing New Mac Miller Album
The collab album from the legendary producer Madlib and the late rapper, Mac Miller, will soon see the light of day! Taking from the two collaborators’ essence, the album Maclib is a body of work that the duo worked before Miller’s passing in 2018. Madlib said that he had worked on the album after but only recently got the blessing from Miller’s estate and is now ready to finish it. The Californian producer had just released his joint project, Liberation 2, with Talib Kweli, and is also chipping away at two other albums: one with Erykah Badu and a separate one with Planet Asia. Safe to say the man has a lot on his plate, but being so many years in the game, his extensive repertoire has proven his impeccable work ethic. If you’re reminiscing about the times of the early 2010s, the release of the Madlib x Mac Miller album is one to look forward to.

The Killers, Kendrick Lamar, and ODESZA Are Set To Headline Life Is Beautiful 2023
If The Killers, Kendrick Lamar, and ODESZA tell me life is beautiful, I believe it. In celebration of the Life Is Beautiful festival’s 10th anniversary, the three stars are set to headline and bring life to the 3-day desert party. Taking place in Downtown Las Vegas on September 22-24, the headliners will follow the triumph of 2021 when Tame Impala, Green Day, and Billie Eilish performed. Sin City’s hometown hero, The Killers, will be joined by Flume, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blxst, Bebe Rexha, Day Glow, Goth Babe, RAYE, Cloonee, Inhalers, The Wombats, and more on Friday. The 1975, Omar Apollo, Cigarettes After Sex, Purple Disco Machine, Yung Gravy, and BR alum Renée Rapp will be joining Kendrick Lamar on Saturday. The festival wraps up on Sunday with ODESZA headlining and support acts from Khalid, Nelly, Kim Petras, John Summit, Rina Sawayama, Claptone, Baby Tate, Snakehips, and more. Boygenius Release ‘the record’ And Announce Summer Tour Dates
Music’s BFF goals, boygenius, wants you to join their squad. After dropping 3 emotional tracks in January, leaving us all hanging for more, the record finally arrives to quench our thirst for more melodramatic existential questioning. the record is the 12-track brainchild of Pheobe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus, with a runtime of 42 minutes to get up, down, and all around in your emotions. The trio’s combined voices and beautiful harmonies are indicative of the good ol’ saying, ‘together is better than one.’ While there are tracks written solo or with a couple of words suggested by another member, the songs with shared songwriting and composition roles explore the trio’s true artistic range and immaculate sonic capabilities. In “Not Strong Enough,” Bridgers’ grainy confession, followed by Baker’s precise intonations, layer perfectly on top of Dacus’ creamy guitar riffs. The record dwells on the themes of loneliness, friendship, and nuances of romance and heartbreak. While the members of boygenius are respectable artists in their own rights, they don’t shy away from showing their deep respect for one another. In a The Guardian feature, we learn that boygenius started out as a long-distance book club where thoughts and opinions on books were shared, along with occasional life updates, mutual lonesome sentiments of being on tour, and much more. The three artists, yet to join forces at the time, were booked to headline a tour together, and there born the idea to create a body of work as a supergroup. While we’re all in awe of their friendship story, boygenius invites us to join them on their upcoming tour as they released dates for North America and Europe. Carly Rae Jepsen, Broken Social Scene, Bartees Strange, Claud, and Illuminati Hotties are set to show support in their North American stops. MUNA and Ethel Cain are confirmed for their European cities. The trio also released a short film named the film, directed by Academy Award-nominated Kristen Stewart to highlight the band’s close and intimate bond through 3 vignettes. I couldn’t build a bridge to get over how cute their friendship is, even if I wanted to.

Questlove Is Directing Disney’s ‘Aristocats’ Remake
Another day, another Disney live-action remake. Ever since Disney’s psychedelic experiment Alice in Wonderland blew box office expectations and became a mega-success in the 2010s, the company hopped on the train to turn more of their classic tales into 3D-animated adaptations. While the films may be a hit or miss depending on numerous factors, it looks like the company’s newest make-over project, Aristocats, is off to a good start as they appointed Questlove to be the movie’s director. “They chose i to chase the cat…,” Questlove wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news. “I basically have 2 life goals: 1. Don’t dismiss my dreams & 2. Get out of my own way.” Questlove, a veteran musician and record producer, made his debut film debut a couple of years ago with Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised) and went on to win Best Documentary Feature at the Oscars in 2022. In the name of not selling himself short, he will be taking the lead in telling a story of a pedigreed cat and her three kittens who are catnapped by a greedy butler who hopes to gain the inheritance left to them. Knowing his musical background, it’s safe to say we can expect Questlove’s rhythmic touch to the jazzy 70’s animated film.
