DJ Khaled’s ‘God Did’ Arrives With Drake, Kanye, Eminem, Jay-Z, and More
DJ Khaled is back with his 13th studio album, God Did. Before I even start a DJ Khaled album my brain involuntarily hears we the best music! If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed about any DJ Khaled album is that it’s going to be a star-studded affair and I like to picture him saying anotha one as he goes through his contacts of friends/collaborators and adds name after name to his album. God Did features include Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kanye, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Future, SZA, Travis Scott, Gunna, Lil Baby, Quavo, Takeoff, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, Nardo Wick, and a posthumous appearance from Juice Wrld. Prompting me to agree with Twitter u/kirawontmiss and her tweet saying “DJ Khaled gotta be money laundering because how does he pay for all of those album features.” Kanye fans will recognize the remix of his song “Use This Gospel” from his 2019 album Jesus Is King. Except Khaled’s version includes Eminem, because more is more right? The collaboration marks the first time Eminem and Kanye have appeared on a track together since 2009 and Drake’s song “Forever”. For the Khaled haters out there, allow me to direct you to the clip below of his recent interview with Complex and Speedy Morman. Prayers up for DJ Khaled and his broken heart, may we all believe because God Did.

Olivia Rodrigo Makes Surprise Appearance During Billy Joel’s Concert
Another week and another surprise performance from Olivia Rodrigo. This week it was at Billy Joel’s concert in Madison Square Garden. The spicy pisces is a known Billy Joel fan, name-dropping him in her hit song “Deja Vu”. The 2-line shoutout, “Play her piano but she doesn’t know / That I was the one who taught you Billy Joel” no doubt left millions of Gen Z fans googling “who is Billy Joel.” For the Rodrigo fans that know, it was an iconic moment when Joel welcomed her on stage saying “I love her music—and so do my kids” before jumping on the piano as Rodrigo sang “Deja Vu”. The duo then performed a rendition of Joel’s 1983 hit song “Uptown Girl” setting off a social media frenzy of videos and photos capturing the moment. This follows Rodrigo’s recent surprise performances with Lily Allen, Avril Lavigne, Natalie Imbruglia, and Alanis Morissette.

Jennifer Lopez Allegedly Dismissed Backup Dancers Due to Their Star Sign
I’m not one to pay attention to celebrity gossip but the news of Jennifer Lopez “allegedly” beefing an astrology sign was simply too good to scroll past. The news comes from former Beyoncé backup dancer, Heather Morris (who you may remember from Glee) and her recent appearance on the Just Sayin’ podcast. The name of which alone, is giving big I just spilled the tea, but that’s not my business Kermit energy. Morris did indeed spill the tea, recounting a story of a Jennifer Lopez audition for tour dancers that happened years ago. Morris starts by giving some context of what a dance audition entails—a grueling 10 am to 6 pm day with lots of judgment and no guaranteed pay. According to Morris, J. Lo came in at the end of the day to thank everyone for auditioning. “She walks in the room and she said, ‘Thank you so much, you guys have worked so hard. By a show of hands, if there are any Virgos in the room, can you just raise your hands?’” Naturally, some Virgos were present and raised their hands prompting J. Lo to whisper something to her assistant, and then the Virgos were dismissed. Morris highlighted that she was not present for the audition herself and the story is “hearsay” but emphasized that her sources are credible although she may have gotten the astrological sign wrong. The astrological sign is the most important part of the story, Heather, and the reason for my interest in said hearsay. Virgos, are a generally well-liked sign amongst astrology stans, unlike the not-so-popular Geminis and Scorpios. I have no doubt Virgos everywhere are assembling to make a well-thought-out and meticulously detailed plan on how to clear their name.

Britney Spears Returns For New Song With Elton John
2000s fans rejoice because Britney Spears is back with her first new music since 2016’s Glory. Partnering up with Elton John, the duo recorded a spin on John’s 1971 song “Tiny Dancer” and renamed it “Hold Me Closer”. Spears took to Instagram earlier this week to share her thoughts about the song ahead of its release. “You can bet your bottom dollar that THIS collaboration will heighten my year by joining your brilliant hands of play,” she wrote. “Thank you for your generosity and just thinking of me to join you on such a brilliant song! How cool is it to be a background voice ON YOUR song! Sir Elton I did it thanks to your genius, creative, and legendary mind!” The sweet caption can be seen on a fan account here but the original is no longer available. Why? Because Spears deleted her Instagram account (again) prompting all the oops! I did it again jokes you can think of. Have no fear, your daily dose of candid Britney updates and thoughts is still available on Twitter though. Here’s hoping Twitter fingers turn to lyric fingers and we get more new music in the future.

JID Drops ‘The Forever Story’ Feat. Lil Wayne, 21 Savage, EarthGang & More
The Atlanta Dreamville-signed rapper is back with his third studio album, The Forever Story, featuring guest appearances from EarthGang, 21 Savage, Baby Tate, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, and more. The 15-track project is said to be his most personal offering to date acting as an origin story complete with family anecdotes, tales from his upbringing in Atlanta, and reflections on the challenges he’s overcome to get to where he is. Executive produced by his longtime collaborator, Christo, the album is ladened with the addictive beats and sample chops that JID is known for. His love for movies heavily influenced the conceptual execution of The Forever Story with theatrical sound bytes throughout to help narrate and guide the listener through his storytelling, simultaneously painting a picture bigger than words. Exemplified in the album’s second track, “Raydar”, sounds from a football game are weaved into the chorus marking the beginning of JID’s journey from college athlete to rap star. The introspective storytelling coupled with complex soundscapes makes The Forever Story well worth the four-year wait.
