There is no doubt in our minds that all of these new artists deserve the award for “Best New Artist”, so we’re giving our 2 cents on why they topped our list. Most of these artists have been making music for longer than just this year, but have finally been given their moment to shine. We’ve rounded up the 12 best artists of the year in light of the holiday season. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

You know her, you love her, you can’t get enough of her; It’s Ice Spice everyone. The Bronx Native rapper has won several ‘Best New Artist’ awards and has since been nominated for many more. She went from “Munch” to Munchkins real quick. 

2. Noah Kahan

2023 was the year folk music really came back, and we can thank Noah Kahan for that. Noah has been writing and releasing music since 2017 and he is finally getting the credit he deserves. We love you, Noah. 

3. Peggy Gou 

Peggy is easily the world’s new coolest DJ. She’s got a fashion label, a festival and millions of followers — that doesn’t just happen overnight. Peggy fought for her place in the DJ world and we’re glad to see her now being recognized for it. You Gou Girl!

4. Reneé Rapp 

Having transitioned from acting to pop and building a substantial fan base, Rapp possesses powerful vocal abilities and exudes an energetic presence. No doubt in our minds that there are big things to come from her.

5. Jelly Roll 

Jelly Roll delivers undeniable, passionately infused country songs that seamlessly blend elements of country, rock, and hip-hop, showcasing a musical journey marked by resilience and redemption. Winning 3 CMT Music Awards and a grammy nomination, we’re excited to see where he rolls next. 

6. Tyla 

There’s so much depth to Tyla’s emerging talent. Her musical journey has been years in the making; she actively crafts video storyboards, collaborates closely with her stylist, writes songs rooted in personal experiences, and recognizes the importance of teamwork. 

7. The War and Treaty

The Trotters, a wedded pair with a captivating history, infuse their potent country tunes with elements of gospel, soul, and explosive energy. They have both been shining stars in the music industry this year and they even have a grammy nomination to prove it. 

8. Thxsomch

Emo-pop legend is the perfect way to describe emerging sensation Thxsomch. In the past year, YouTube’s algorithm worked its magic, and brought him to viral status as he proved himself worthy of his fame. He is so imperfectly, perfect. 

9. Sexyy Red

St. Louis sensation Sexyy Red, is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in the rap scene. The “Hood Hottest Princess” is doing everything she can with her music, her collaborations, and her sound. She does this all with her foot on the gas. 

10. Lola Young 

BRIT-nominated singer/songwriter Lola Young is in our hearts and on the charts. She is not afraid to delve into the complexities of one-sided relationships, a quest for understanding, showcasing her authentic South London edge. Blending passionate vocals with casual wit and frankness.

11. Coco Jones 

This girl does her job well and she knows it. Since acting in her early years of fame, she has made a name for herself in the world of RnB.  Congratulations Coco!

12. Raye

TikTok viral, RAYE, initially recognized for the success of her single “Escapism” is currently considered a breakthrough track in the United States. However, she has a compelling narrative of overcoming label restrictions that resonates well with independent artists in the recording academy. With the voice of an angel, RAYE is here to stay.
